More than 100 people participated in the August 13 Energy Industry Workforce Development Summit at Las Positas College in Livermore. The best measure of success was that 30+ volunteers stepped forward to help create a regional workforce development strategy for the energy industry. This strategy, when fully implemented, will create a comprehensive field of study based on job creation expected by the East Bay’s energy industry.
Keynoted by Congressman Jerry McNerney, the Summit’s agenda featured representatives from the State of California, ConnectEd: The California Center for College and Career, CSU-East Bay, Chabot Las Positas Community College District, Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program, Sandia National Laboratories, Chevron Energy Solutions Group, and PG&E.
